a little tongue-in-cheek

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 30 December 2006 03:54 (A review of Hudson Hawk)

This is one of those movies that has scenes you don't expect. I won't go into detail about them, but there's odd sound effects that sound more like they're in a cartoon than a "real" movie. It's not the greatest movie, but it's worth a watch.

done before its time

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 28 December 2006 04:09 (A review of Freakazoid!)

This was (and still is) a great cartoon. There were a lot of tongue-in-cheek and "grown-up" jokes, but was still funny for the kids. Time to look for a DVD...

dr. who?

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 28 December 2006 04:03 (A review of Doctor Who)

This is a great "new" version of Dr. Who, not because of one particular thing, but many reasons. They've kept the same idea, but they also have the TARDIS (of course), K-9 and a Dalek made an appearance, and even Sarah. Nicely done.

uh, uh-huh-huh...

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 28 December 2006 03:56 (A review of Beavis and Butt-Head)

How many of us haven't impersonated Beavis and/or Butthead? How many of us have known people that are that far to the left of the bell curve?

It's entertaining in their stupidity, and for some reason, they suck us in... huh-huh, I said "suck."

its development was arrested

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 28 December 2006 03:53 (A review of Arrested Development )

I'm glad this is out on DVD, because this was canceled too early. It's fun, funny, and quotable. There are characters you can relate to (some of them in an unfortunate way), and you really want Michael to succeed in the face of... well, his family.

great storyline

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2006 04:56 (A review of Dracula)

This is one of the cooler version of Dracula that I've seen. The story of Vlad and that blood-red armor makes a great visual for the makings of his slip into darkness. Gary Oldman is great in that part, being able to play the proper piece as well as the raving lunatic, and everywhere in-between.

something about it

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2006 04:16 (A review of Dreamcatcher)

There's something about this movie that makes me want to watch it again and again. Maybe it's that I wish I had a super power, maybe it's a hero complex... maybe it's saving mankind. Whatever the reason, I want to see this again and pick up something I missed the last time(s).

he is what he is.

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2006 03:45 (A review of Popeye)

This is another in a long line of movies my brother and I watched growing up. There was something about it that we really liked and kept watching it for... it's a pretty good live-action version of Popeye, with some campy effects and some funny lines.

underestimated, in a good way

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2006 03:33 (A review of Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle)

I thought this was going to be a bad movie, so it was great to find out that it was pretty good. It's funny, there are great cameos, it's quotable, and it's super entertaining.

unfortunately... not so good.

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 21 December 2006 09:21 (A review of Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever)

This was one of those movies that looked so much better in the commercials than it ended up being in the theater (or on TV, where I saw it). It's worth checking out if there's nothing else on TV and you don't have to pay for it... Mildly entertaining, but don't expect to be wowed.
