great for two players

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 21 December 2006 03:28 (A review of Burnout Revenge)

We turned this game into a tournament one night, and had a great time. It's fun, but playing it too much might make you think you can do it in real life... or maybe that was just me during a long commute.

Great single and two-player, and it keeps us interested in a lot of ways.

too bad they're not still around

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 21 December 2006 02:50 (A review of Okeeblow)

This is one of the most listened to works in my music collection. From Hello Allison to Perfect Silence to the opening beat, it's a great album, and when I don't know what to listen to, I'll put this on and enjoy it.

nice sleeve.

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 20 December 2006 09:21 (A review of Altered Carbon)

It's far future technology, but somehow I can see it happening sooner than later. You can have yourself in a new body almost whenever you want, and you could get into that body from across... well, the planet, the solar system, the galaxy - you just need to know the right people.

Takeshi Kovacs is a great character, and Morgan does a great job in building him into a believable person (in whatever form he's taking).

i keep reading it.

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 20 December 2006 09:19 (A review of Cryptonomicon)

I've read this about four times now, and I'm just realizing that it's been too long since I've read it. This is a great book, and spans WWII through modern day. There's cryptography, travel, military, technology, insiders, outsiders, the Mob, the Yakuza, and a whole lot more. Try it, you'll like it.

the CLI is great.

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 20 December 2006 09:17 (A review of In the Beginning...Was the Command Line)

It's about tanks and cars and dealerships... in analogy form. Read it and see another way of looking at the technology out there. Even if this is a little dated now, it's still pretty much right on in describing the "big three" of operating systems out there.

allllll righty then.

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 18 December 2006 09:20 (A review of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective)

He took what he did on 'In Living Color' and brought it to the big screen, and did a great job making it work. This is one of those movies that I watch if it's on TV, and I must've watched it a dozen times back when it first came out on video.

all time great Christmas movies...

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 18 December 2006 09:18 (A review of A Christmas Story)

If you have the right channel, you can watch this for 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve. Yes, America is a wonderful place, and no, I don't triple-dog-dare you to watch the whole thing.

hack the planet!

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 18 December 2006 01:28 (A review of Hackers)

This is classic. "Whoa, it has a 28.8kbps mo-dem...!" It's worth watching now, just like it was when it was first out.

so, how'd you meet?

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 17 December 2006 02:07 (A review of How I Met Your Mother)

This is one of my more-watched shows on prime time right now. It's funny, from Marshall's innocence to Barney's intense chauvinism. I don't want it to end, but at the same time I want to see how it ends.

quotable and then some

Posted : 17 years, 4 months ago on 15 December 2006 09:29 (A review of Van Wilder)

This is a great movie for a pick-me-up and quotable almost all the way through. Write that down.
