...and knowing is half the battle.

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 4 January 2007 04:25 (A review of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero)

Sure, it was a military group. Sure, they shot at each other and the bad guys were plotting to do horrible things... but nobody ever got killed (until the movie, but that's another review), and the good guys always won. Oh, and just to be sure, they threw in a PSA (public service announcement) to help the kids learn.

Great show, and one of my favorites from growing up.

couldn't wait to see it.

When the promos first ran for this, I knew I would like it. When I saw the show, I was right. This is like a grown-up version of a comic book, in the form of a series.

This will be something that I get when it's out on DVD, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

slide into home.

The concept of this show is something that I've wondered about, and when I saw it the first time, I was hooked. What would happen if the Egyptians never went out of power? What would happen if geeks were the sports superstars?

Those are a couple of examples of what the show talked about, and there were a lot more out there.

it's just funny.

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 4 January 2007 04:09 (A review of Scrubs)

This is one of those shows that I keep wanting to see. There's something about Zack Braff that's funny, especially on this show. From the weird fantasy sequences to the even weirder relationships they all have, it's worth watching.

bring it back, sci-fi channel!

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 4 January 2007 03:54 (A review of Misfits of Science)

I loved this show, and I wanted superpowers of my very own. It's too bad it wasn't on for that long, 'cause it was ahead of its time. If this show was on today, it would be picked up by the Sci-Fi channel in no time...

hot or cold?

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 4 January 2007 03:38 (A review of Turbo Teen)

He gets cold water on him... POOF! He's not just a car, he's Turbo teen. He shouldn't have been driving that car so close to an experimental device on that mountain road. Sounds cheesy, and it was... but hey, it was the 80's, and that kind of cheese was all the rage.

hey, Pal...

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 3 January 2007 11:20 (A review of Uncle Buck)

This is a good comedy with a dark twist to it, like a lot of John Hughes movies. The up side is that it's funny and really quotable...

"Hi, I'm Buck Melanoma, Moley Russell's wart..."

It's John Candy in one of his funnier roles. Check it out, watch it, then watch it again.

this surprised me

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 3 January 2007 04:11 (A review of The Family Stone)

It was a better movie than I thought. This looked like a basic love-story-drama, but it ended up being more. Sure, it wasn't excellent, but it was better than just average. Make sure to watch it all the way through too, just so you can see what happens. You might be surprised, you might like it too.

oh no, tom hanks.

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 3 January 2007 04:00 (A review of Turner & Hooch)

What was Tom Hanks thinking? This was a great movie... if you like crap. I remember seeing this in the theater (I was 12), and people actually got up and left. To be fair, I haven't seen it since, but I'm afraid to give up that much of my life to see if I was wrong.

one more of my favorites

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 3 January 2007 03:53 (A review of Young Frankenstein)

I used to watch this with Blazing Saddles back-to-back a lot while I was growing up. It's one of Mel Brooks' better movies, and a great performance by everyone involved (including a bunch of the same people in a lot of his movies).

Take an old Frankenstein movie and run it through Mel Brooks' head. That about sums it up.
