his nose looks like...

Posted : 16 years, 10 months ago on 9 May 2007 02:24 (A review of Nothing But Trouble)

...a, well... If you've seen it, you know what I mean. Another in a long line of crappy movies that I watch again and again, usually in pieces. It's worth at least one watch, just to see what happens.

strange, but pulls it together

Posted : 16 years, 10 months ago on 9 May 2007 02:13 (A review of The Road to Wellville)

This is one of those movies that I caught one late night when nothing else was on... and I liked it. There are some strange plot lines, stranger "methods" for making people well, and a cast that you wouldn't quite believe if you didn't see it for yourself.

i want my uhf

Posted : 17 years, 2 months ago on 27 January 2007 08:19 (A review of UHF)

Cameos, spoofs, and quotable... all involving Weird Al. It's a great movie, especially when you want to laugh at people being dumb and clever at the same time. How can you not like a movie that has a kid drinking from a fire hose?

classic arnold flick

Posted : 17 years, 2 months ago on 13 January 2007 03:14 (A review of True Lies)

Maybe not a classic Arnold, but close. There's bad guys, he's the good guy, he saves the day (in a lot of ways). Not much in the way of surprises, but there's some good action, good comedy, and the Arnold one-liners. You know, kind of his take on the James Bond "Just killed the bad guy" line.

don't move.

Posted : 17 years, 2 months ago on 13 January 2007 02:54 (A review of Tremors)

This is one of those movies that you almost don't want to admit to watching. It's entertaining, and it has Michael Gross (the dad from 'Family Ties') with a large gun collection.

You have to be careful in those small towns. You just don't know what's lurking in the valley.

...get me some blueberry pancakes

Posted : 17 years, 2 months ago on 13 January 2007 02:50 (A review of Road Trip)

When this first came out on DVD, we watched it a few times and laughed... and quoted... and watched it again. Be sure to watch the extras too, they're entertaining. It's along the lines of a lot of the Van Wilder genre (if you know what I mean), and makes for a good movie.

it's like the 'ippo...

Posted : 17 years, 2 months ago on 10 January 2007 09:17 (A review of Along Came Polly)

Romantic comedy, yes... but it's also very quotable and between Hank Azaria and Philip Seymour Hoffman there are parts that are funny to watch over and over. Reuben, are you for scuba?

not great,but...

Posted : 17 years, 2 months ago on 10 January 2007 07:30 (A review of Airborne (1993))

Why wouldn't you want to watch a movie where the race happens on the "Devil's Backbone" (ooh...)? Well it's not that great a movie, that's why. It's worth checking out to see Seth Green and Jack Black before they were stars.

Decent underdog movie too, with the preppie kids trying to take on the other kids...

one of my favorite heist genre movies

Posted : 17 years, 2 months ago on 9 January 2007 01:37 (A review of Ocean's Eleven)

First, I have to admit that I haven't seen the original (but want to). This is one of my favorite in the heist genre, and it's got a little of everything. It's a big job, there's a lot of planning, and a great twist to it. Ahh, Vegas...

'scuse me.

Posted : 17 years, 2 months ago on 8 January 2007 09:20 (A review of Mystery Men)

How could you not like a movie with a character called 'The Spleen?' It's a pretty funny movie, and the "powers" they have are arguably the poorer options out there, even if they work out in the end. This is worth a watch, at the very least to see a guy who can turn invisible when nobody's watching.
